서울대학교 약학대학을 졸업하고, 동대학 노어노문학과에서 석사학위를, 모스크바국립대학에서 M. 바흐친의 대화주의를 주제로 박사학위를 취득했다.
현재 서울대 통일평화연구원 부교수로 재직 중이며, 러시아와 한반도 평화, 인문학과 평화학을 연결하는 연구를 하고 있다.
